Departments of excellence: the Department of Medicine and Surgery of Milano-Bicocca among the eight selected

The ranking of the 180 selected excellent university departments has been published by the Ministry of University and Research and Anvur. Milano-Bicocca has been awarded no fewer than eight out of the university's 11 rankings and 14 total departments.

The eight selected departments are: Environmental and Earth Sciences; Physics; Computer, System and Communication Sciences; Medicine and Surgery; Sociology and Social Research; Economics, Quantitative Methods and Business Strategies; Psychology and Human Sciences for Education 'Riccardo Massa'. In the ranking compiled by the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research (Anvur), the Department of Environmental and Earth Sciences stands out as having the highest score in Italy.

Each project envisages investments in personnel and new instrumentation to support new research initiatives in support of the attractiveness of the departments and in the area of highly qualified teaching.

"The eight departments selected," comments Giovanna Iannantuoni, Rector of the University of Milano-Bicocca, "cover very different disciplinary areas, from the humanities to medicine, confirming Milano-Bicocca's ability to excel in various fields. This is an extraordinary result that rewards the quality of our university's research and teaching".
